Partial dentures replace multiple teeth on the upper or lower arch. Partials are removable and unlike full dentures have clasps that hold onto the teeth in the mouth. This support makes the partial denture easier to wear than full dentures. The lower arch particularly benefits from the clasps since they limit movement.

Partial dentures are made of plastic teeth but a metal frame and clasps can be ordered. Partials with metal clasps may last longer but they place more strain on the teeth they hold onto. This may weaken the teeth. Partials without metal are healthier for the remaining teeth and are durable.
