ROOT CANAL TREATMENT- RICHMOND FMAILY DENITSTRY

Root Canal Treatment is a ultimate tooth saving treatment of disease tooth.  When a tooth is cracked or has a deep cavity, bacteria can enter the pulp ( nerve) or 3rd layer of a tooth. The pulp of the tooth extends from the crown to the root of the tooth.

These bacteria and germs cause inflammation and infection inside the tooth. If left untreated, an abscess may form. When the inflammed or infected tissue is not removed, pain and swelling can result. This cannot only injure your jawbones, but it is detrimental to your overall health. Without the proper treatment, your tooth may have to be removed.

Dr. Leann or an endodontist (a dentist who specializes in problems with the nerves of the teeth) will numb the tooth so you can be comfortable and don’t feel anything during the treatment.  She will carefully removes all decay and affected tissue. Next, the interior of the tooth will be thorougly cleaned, shaped, disinfected and sealed to ensure the sucess of the root cananl treatment.

Finally, the tooth is filled. If the tooth had extensive decay, a crown will also be placed to strengthen and protect the tooth from breakage. The restored tooth can last a lifetime as long as it has continued care with regular brushing, flossing, and checkups.
